Red Alert
Every once in a while, I have a random thought and wonder, "Is that on the internet?" Remembering the early days of the internet where any particular information that you might want was pretty hit-or-miss, I kind of get a kick over the amount and variety of things people have made available over the years. Over dinner tonight, I found myself randomly wondering about Orson Welles' infamous Halloween 1938 radio broadcast adaptation of H.G. Wells' novel, The War of the Worlds. One quick Google search later, and I find it as an mp3 available on The Mercury Theatre Online. I had read about it in various places over the years, but never heard it on tape or during one of its re-broadcastings over the years, which is no surprise given how little I listen to the radio. But now it is archived on the internet in a variety of locations, just as I hoped. Downloading ensued.

59 minutes of awesome.

Very nice, I shall be downloading that one right behind you.

I thought that if that appealed to anyone, that it would be you! :-)

This might be an even greater depth of geekery, though: I was thrilled recently to acquire horrible digital copies of ancient VCR transfers of all the episodes of Whiz Kids. Impressed? Or no?
