Adventure Knows No Age
Holy Freakin' Moses: Google Earth is one of the coolest things ever! I've been geeked out on it for hours tracing my footsteps through Illinois and Wisconsin, Notre Dame/South Bend, Ireland, Geneva, and Carthage. I'm going to go pass out now.

You just discovered google earth? I have been playing with that for some six months now. I have a couple of favourite places. One is stonehenge, because there are other things in the area (mounds) and the plains at Nazca in Peru (northwest?) of the town itself. If you have heard about the Nazca lines, Google earth affords a wonder insight into the complexity the long gone people were able to achieve.

Oh yes, machu pichu shows up too.

Yeah, its a pretty neat toy. I can tell from the pictures of our small town that the images were taken two summers ago when Grace was 3 - the street was being dug up, and it shows on the images :).

Its a time waster :)

I had played with this this stuff maybe six months ago, perhaps on a different service but with the same dataset. Now, though, being able to retrace, mark and annotate points I'd been to in Europe and Africa just really grabbed me.

I played with it, oh, maybe a ear and a half ago, and there were a all kinds of whistles and bells that disappeared between then and about 8 months ago. Some things appear to be making a comeback ... perhaps there were security issues that they have now solved.
