I See You!
It is so freaking cool to get emails like this:
Hey, found a 10:30pm train out of Geneva that arrives in Venice at 7:30am. We can enjoy an evening in Geneva and sleep on the train. Dig? I can't get prices online so I'll have to swing by the trainstation after work. No biggie. If its affordable I'll get two tickets... we can put the rest of the trip together later. OK?

That IS so freaking cool.

I'm a bit wary of how exhausting it might all be for me now, but every hill and valley will be a new one, with another new view on the other side.

Well, if it's any encouragement, my 5-foot-practically-nothing sister (who is, by her own definition, was physically designed by God for breeding more than more athletic physical exertion) is now 2/3rds of the way across northern Spain, having steadily trotted behind my 6-foot, gym-rat brother for over a month. On her first day they walked for 12+ hours without stopping, across the Pyrenees. They're now in hilly country again, my sister gamely loping with two walking sticks to propel her forward.

Love the sibs shot. Methinks your sister might have different ideas about distinguishing breeding from athletic physical exertion once she's tried it. Damn cool what they're doing.

Yes, in olden times I would not have thought twice about that sort of thing. I did it all the time. Having been cheerfully disemboweled by a pair of talented surgeons two summers agone, I am now, however, more like a 5 year-old on a car trip: have life, must interrupt it for potty break.

Isn't it a great shot? They're such attractive people to be related to, even if they are crazy. As for the wee one, I think it's the hourglass figure that she's accounting for rather than a denigration of how much exertion is involved.

Yenihoo.

I'm glad you're going off to have a new adventure, even if you do have the think twice and accept that things will be different.

lol... You got that right. I've been absolutely overwhelmed reading my guidebook on Venice: the history of the city, its culture and people is almost mind-boggling. I've one day of my life to spend there and I have no idea yet how to decide what to make of it.
